Ken Miller
Ken Miller has been principal partner at There. since 2015.
Ken was previously Creative Director (and then Creative Director At Large) for digital and production agency Alldayeveryday from 2011-2014, working with clients such as Land Rover, Nike, ALDO, Club Monaco, Artnet and Standard Hotels. Ken was Concept Director for Pabst Blue Ribbon beer in 2009-2010, working on cultural marketing strategy. Ken was Director of Cultural Research at the boutique brand consultancy dialhouse, developing product concepts and cultural strategy for clients such as Microsoft and Cadbury-Schweppes.
While partner at There., Ken has commissioned artworks for Japanese retailer United Arrows and curated a series of skate decks focused on Japanese photography for Numbers Edition. He selected photography for the private collection at the Los Angeles headquarters of City National Bank. Ken was co-curator for “Artists Series”, presenting fashion photography at Gana Art, one of Seoul, Korea’s most significant art spaces. In 2014, Ken curated two exhibitions at the Sundance Film Festival. 1MSQFT showcased music and design as part of a cultural programming series for Microsoft; SPACE with sponsorship by Patagonia, presented landscapes by prominent fine art and fashion photographers. In 2012-2013, Ken was curator for Fujifilm’s X-Series cameras, presenting exhibitions by some of photography’s greatest artists in New York, Tokyo, Seoul and Milan. In 2011, he curated fashion week photos and videos for Milk Studios, in New York with support from Leica cameras and Vimeo.com. In 2010, Ken curated a ‘UT’ shirt series featuring black and white photography for apparel brand Uniqlo. In 2009, he was consulting curator for an auction of young artists by the Phillips de Pury auction house. In 2008, he curated a series of New York Fashion Week conversations on art, music, fashion, health and design for MINI Cooper cars. In 2007, he curated art, fashion and technology conversations for Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal’s Tribeca Enterprises.
In 2021, Ken published PICTURES, a book collecting innovative abstract photography; PICTURES is currently available in the US, Mexico, Europe and Asia. Ken is interviewer and text editor for The Newsstand, by Rizzoli International, which accompanied “Ocean of Images: New Photography 2015” at the Museum of Modern Art. Ken created ‘Under the Influence”, a multimedia feature for T: The New York Times Style Magazine, which he contributed from 2012-2015. Ken is co-editor of Opening Ceremony, a popular fashion monograph published in 2012 from Rizzoli. In 2009, Ken was author of SHOOT, a photography compilation for Rizzoli; SHOOT was supported with events and exhibitions at the New Museum in New York, Tate Modern in London, Colette in Paris, UCCA in Beijing, and PARCO in Tokyo, among many other venues. Ken was previously the longtime Editor in Chief of Tokion magazine; Tokion became a leading design, arts, and style magazine, with international editions in English and Japanese. In 2003, Tokion founded Creativity Now, an annual arts and media conference in New York and Tokyo that won Ad Age's Vanguard Award. In 2007, Ken was author of Revisionaries, A Decade of Art in Tokion for Abrams Image.
